Traditional Bathroom Vanity Unit
 
Long before it found its place in a bathroom, this piece lived a quieter life.
 
Crafted from antiqued oak and once used as a writing bureau, it was a place for thought, letters and long hours spent shaping ideas. Time left its mark in the way it always does....softly, honestly and those traces remain today, forming the foundation of what this vanity has become.
 
Rather than erase its past, the oak has been carefully adapted, allowing its age, grain and natural wear to remain visible. The result is a vanity that carries a sense of continuity, something made, used and remade....offering an authenticity and permanence rarely achieved in modern bathroom furniture.
 
A Caspian quartz worktop and traditional shaped up-stand now sits above the original timber, introducing a refined contrast to the aged oak below. Its pale surface carries gentle movement through white and soft grey tones, traced with fine gold veining that recalls natural marble. An ogee edge profile adds a traditional softness, while a single under-mounted oval basin keeps the overall composition restrained and purposeful.
 
Behind the façade, the drawers have been entirely reworked by our in-house carpenters to suit everyday bathroom use. Storage has been thoughtfully maximised and the interiors are finished in Farrow & Ball's “Ball Green”, an unexpected detail that reveals itself only in use, rewarding closer attention.
 
The original Georgian-style handles remain, restored rather than replaced, preserving a tangible link to the piece’s earlier life. These are paired with a three-hole antique brass tap and coordinating waste, introducing a warm metallic note that sits comfortably alongside the oak’s natural patina.
 
To protect the timber without disguising its character, the exterior is finished in a clear satin lacquer. This allows the depth, variation and quiet imperfections of the oak to remain visible, not polished away, but celebrated.
 
This is a vanity for spaces that favour individuality over uniformity.
 
It does not attempt to disappear into its surroundings, but instead anchors the room with presence, warmth and history.
