Edwardian Oak Vanity

Originally crafted between 1890 and 1915, this Edwardian oak chest of drawers embodies the timeless character of British country house furniture. Built in the traditional provincial style, it was designed for practicality, longevity and understated elegance. More than a century later, following a meticulous restoration, it begins an entirely new chapter as a handcrafted countertop vanity, blending period craftsmanship with modern luxury.

Fashion and interiors have come and gone since this piece first left the workshop, yet its honest construction and enduring quality remain as relevant today as they were over a hundred years ago. This is furniture built to last, a philosophy that deserves preserving rather than replacing.

Every stage of the transformation has been completed with care and respect for the original craftsmanship. The chest has been completely stripped back to its natural oak, allowing the beauty of the timber to reveal itself once again before being refinished in a warm medium oak stain. Finally, it has been sealed with a clear satin lacquer, providing lasting protection against the demands of everyday bathroom life while allowing the natural grain, rich texture and subtle character of the wood to remain beautifully visible.

Crowning the vanity is an elegant Amber quartz worktop, chosen for its soft white base and delicate golden veining that gently weaves across the surface. The warmth within the stone complements the oak perfectly, creating a harmonious balance between materials. Finished with a traditional Full Bullnose edging profile and a matching stone upstand, every detail has been carefully considered to achieve a refined and timeless finish.

Positioned proudly above the worktop is a generously proportioned elongated rectangular countertop basin, introducing a contemporary focal point without detracting from the furniture's traditional character. A tall chrome traditional-style mixer tap completes the arrangement, offering a striking contrast while maintaining the classic styling of the piece.

Behind the restored drawer fronts lies the craftsmanship that defines every vanity we create. The two upper drawers and spacious lower drawer have all been expertly re-engineered by our in-house carpentry team, allowing modern plumbing to be discreetly integrated whilst preserving as much practical storage as possible.

One of this vanity's greatest strengths is its versatility. With a depth of just 420mm, it is perfectly suited to bathrooms, cloakrooms and en-suites where space is limited, offering generous storage without overwhelming the room. It proves that practical design never has to come at the expense of character.

This is more than a bathroom vanity.

It is a genuine Edwardian antique, thoughtfully restored and handcrafted to serve another lifetime.

Created for homes that value authenticity over imitation, craftsmanship over mass production, and furniture with a story worth continuing.

A piece of British history, beautifully reimagined for modern living.
