Traditional Bathroom Vanity Unit

Originally crafted as a writing bureau, this piece now begins a new chapter as a refined bathroom vanity, bringing quiet luxury into the rhythms of everyday life.

Formed from aged oak that once shaped the body of a well-loved bureau, the timber carries the character of its former purpose. Time has left its signature in softened corners, open grain and gentle markings, not imperfections, but echoes of hands at work, of evenings shared, of moments patiently gathered.

The restoration has been guided by restraint. The wood has been renewed, not rewritten. Its surface reveals layers of history, shaped by years of use and careful transformation. This is not heritage recreated, but heritage continued, authentic material allowed to evolve.

An Avacatta quartz worktop now rests above the original oak, introducing clarity and light. Soft veining drifts across the pale surface, finished with a DuPont edging profile that nods quietly to traditional joinery. Below, an oval under-mounted basin brings calm proportion, anchoring the composition with understated balance.

Within, the drawers have been thoughtfully reconfigured for modern living, offering generous storage while preserving the integrity of the original form. The oak handles remain untouched, retaining warmth, texture and continuity.

Chrome two-hole traditional taps and a coordinating waste introduce a subtle contrast. Their cool finish settles gently against the patinated timber, creating a dialogue between eras — refined, measured, enduring.

The exterior is protected with a clear satin lacquer, chosen to shield without disguising. Variations in tone, natural grain and age-earned marks remain visible, celebrated as part of the design rather than concealed.

This is not a vanity intended to fade quietly into the background.

It is for interiors that honour substance over surface, character over uniformity and objects with meaning over objects made to follow.

Once shaped for writing, now shaped for daily ceremony.

A piece with a past, waiting to become part of your home.
