Traditional Bathroom Vanity Unit
It began its life in another room, another century.
Once, this Victorian washstand stood witness to slow mornings and lamplit evenings, its oak surface shaped not by machines, but by repetition, touch and time. Today, it has been carefully revived, saved, restored and given a new role, emerging as a traditional countertop vanity with a story still very much in motion.
The oak tells it first. Mature, antique, unapologetically honest. Its grain remains open and expressive, marked by years that have softened rather than scarred it. These aren’t flaws to disguise; they are quiet records of use, of presence, of life lived around it. The timber hasn’t been stripped of its past, it’s been invited to continue it.
Restoration here was an exercise in respect. Nothing forced. Nothing overworked. The wood has been refreshed but never erased, allowing its natural depth and tonal variation to breathe. This isn’t an imitation of heritage. It is heritage, carried forward with intention.
Above, a Misterio quartz worktop introduces a gentle contrast. Pale, luminous and calm, its delicate veining drifts effortlessly across the surface, finished with a subtle chamfer that nods to traditional craftsmanship without excess. An oval basin sits confidently at its centre, classic in form, perfectly proportioned, quietly grounding the entire piece. Even the original upstand, still present after more than a century, has been thoughtfully restored and elevated with a matching Misterio stone insert, bridging old and new without interruption.
Open the cupboard and the story continues. Behind its doors lies generous storage, cleverly concealed within the original structure. The proportions remain true, the integrity intact. Even the original handle survives, cleaned, restored and left exactly where it belongs, a small but powerful link to the past.
The finishing touches speak softly but with purpose. A single tall traditional tap in antique brass rises with confidence, paired with a coordinating waste. Their warm tones sit effortlessly against the aged oak, creating a measured conversation between eras, nothing shouts, nothing competes.
A clear satin lacquer protects the exterior, chosen not to mask, but to preserve. The grain, the tonal shifts, the age-earned markings remain visible and celebrated. This piece wears its history openly, with pride.
This is not furniture designed to disappear into a room.
It belongs in interiors that value depth over trend, craftsmanship over perfection, and pieces that mean something over pieces that simply fill space. It asks to be noticed, not for its shine, but for its soul.
A vanity with a past.
Restored, reimagined and ready to belong-now, in your home.
