Antique Oak Vanity Unit

Long before it became the centrepiece of a bathroom, this piece began life in another part of the home entirely. Built from solid oak over a century ago, it would once have stood proudly as a chest of drawers, quietly serving generations before being given a second life through careful restoration and craftsmanship.

Today, it has been transformed into a striking vanity unit that carries all the charm and substance of the original furniture, while offering the practicality expected for modern living. The result is a piece that feels collected rather than manufactured, something with soul, history and unmistakable presence.

The oak has been carefully stripped back by hand to reveal the richness hidden beneath years of old finish. Rather than erase its age, the restoration celebrates it. The grain remains beautifully expressive, full of movement, texture and natural character, while a deep walnut stain enhances the warmth and depth of the timber. Every mark and variation tells part of its story, giving the piece an authenticity impossible to imitate.

Inside, the drawers have been intelligently re-engineered by our in-house carpentry team, allowing the vanity to retain the practicality of all three working drawers without compromising its original appearance. It is craftsmanship designed not simply to look beautiful, but to be lived with every day.

The proportions are elegant and understated, elevated further by the traditional vintage-style handles which sit comfortably against the warmth of the oak. Their aged detailing provides the perfect finishing touch, grounding the piece firmly in its heritage.

Above, the Amber stone worktop brings contrast and refinement. Predominantly white with soft gold veining flowing gently across the surface, the stone lightens the overall composition while complementing the richness of the timber beneath. The Double Bevel edge profile and matching traditional shaped upstand add a more decorative, furniture-like quality rarely seen in modern bathroom pieces.

At the centre sits a round countertop basin, simple and sculptural in form, paired beautifully with a tall antique brass tap featuring classic white ceramic detailing. Together, the materials create a layered, timeless look, warm oak, soft stone, aged brass and crisp ceramic working together effortlessly.

While rich in character, this piece has been built for everyday use. The entire vanity has been sealed in a durable clear satin lacquer to protect the timber from moisture, steam and daily wear, ensuring the beauty of the oak remains visible and protected for years to come.

This is the kind of piece that changes the feeling of a room. Not through extravagance, but through honesty in its materials, craftsmanship and history.

A vanity with presence, warmth and a story already written, ready now to become part of yours.
