Traditional Elm Vanity Unit

Rooted more in country living than formal tradition, this piece brings a different kind of character,  relaxed, substantial, and quietly striking.

Originally built as a sideboard, its generous scale lends itself naturally to a larger vanity setting. The transformation has embraced that sense of proportion, allowing the piece to retain its presence while introducing a new, practical purpose. It feels less like something altered and more like something reassigned.

Crafted from elm, the timber offers a softer, more organic alternative to oak. Its grain is fluid and expressive, with a natural movement that gives the surface a sense of ease. Finished in a medium oak stain, the colour deepens the texture of the wood, adding warmth while still allowing the character of the elm to come through. The overall effect leans towards a classic farmhouse aesthetic inviting, grounded and unpretentious.

The layout is both balanced and highly functional. Two large cupboards sit either side, offering generous concealed storage, while four central drawers, carefully adapted by our in-house carpentry team, provide practical, everyday usability without disrupting the original façade.

Above, a white Amber stone worktop introduces contrast and refinement. Its clean, bright surface is lifted by soft gold veining, tying in effortlessly with the warmth of the timber below. The addition of a half bullnose edge softens the profile, while a matching upstand provides a neat, considered finish.

Twin oval under-mounted basins are set within the stone, creating a smooth, uninterrupted surface above. Their shape adds a gentle softness, balancing the more solid structure beneath while making the piece ideal for shared spaces.

The vanity is completed with two sets of traditional three-hole taps in brushed brass, paired with coordinating handles. The finish brings a subtle warmth and cohesion, echoing the tones within both the stone and the stained elm and reinforcing the overall sense of balance across materials.

This is a piece defined by its scale, material and understated style, less about formality, more about atmosphere.

A considered choice for those drawn to a warmer, more relaxed interior, where character is built through texture, tone and proportion.
