Antique Oak Vanity Unit

Some pieces simply furnish a room; others define its atmosphere. This antique oak vanity belongs firmly to the latter.

Originally crafted as a chest of drawers over a century ago, the piece has been carefully restored and thoughtfully transformed into a distinctive bathroom vanity. The conversion has been approached with restraint and respect, preserving the character, craftsmanship and quiet elegance that made the original furniture so enduring.

Compact in scale yet rich in presence, the vanity sits effortlessly within both traditional and contemporary interiors, bringing warmth, authenticity and a sense of permanence rarely found in newly manufactured furniture.

The oak itself tells much of the story. The timber has been carefully stripped back by hand, removing the previous finish while preserving the natural patina developed through decades of use. This reveals the depth of grain, tonal variation and organic texture within the wood, a finish that feels genuinely aged rather than artificially distressed. Every surface carries movement and subtle detail that only time can create.

Its original form remains beautifully intact, with balanced proportions and restored patina brass drop handles that provide an authentic finishing touch. These details anchor the piece firmly within its heritage while giving it an individuality impossible to replicate.

Above, the Amber stone worktop introduces lightness and refinement. Predominantly white with delicate gold veining throughout, the surface complements the warmth of the oak without overwhelming it. Finished with a clean Du Pont edge profile and matching upstand, it adds a tailored, architectural quality to the overall design.

The under-mounted basin sits neatly within the stone surface, its softened rectangular form offering a subtle balance between classic and contemporary styling. Traditional chrome Bristan three-hole lever taps and matching waste complete the composition, each material chosen to complement the next in both tone and character.

Practicality has been considered as carefully as aesthetics. The entire vanity has been sealed in a durable clear satin lacquer, protecting the oak against moisture, vapour and the demands of everyday bathroom use while allowing the natural beauty of the timber to remain fully visible.

This is not a piece that relies on excess to make an impression. Its appeal lies in balance, between old and new, craftsmanship and function, character and simplicity.

A timeless statement piece for interiors where authenticity, quality and understated elegance matter most.
