Traditional Bathroom Vanity Unit

This vanity doesn’t whisper where it’s been. You can see it straight away. In the oak’s open grain. In the softened edges. In the subtle unevenness that only time can earn. What once lived as a bureau has been thoughtfully reworked into an under-mounted vanity that keeps its character intact while stepping comfortably into a modern role.

The timber leads the conversation. Mature antique oak, left expressive and honest, carries marks of use that feel intentional rather than incidental. These aren’t imperfections to smooth away; they’re the reason the piece feels grounded. The wood hasn’t been asked to forget its past, it’s been allowed to evolve.

Every decision in the restoration was guided by restraint. The structure remains true. The proportions are unchanged. The surface has been refreshed just enough to reveal depth and tonal variation without flattening its personality. This isn’t a recreation or a nod to tradition, it’s the real thing, adapted with care.

Sitting above, an Amber quartz worktop brings clarity and balance. Its soft white base and gentle gold veining introduce a lighter note, echoing the elegance of marble without dominating the oak beneath. Finished with a half-bullnose edge, the surface feels considered and refined. At its centre, a rectangular basin anchors the design, classic, functional, and quietly assured.

Inside, the transformation continues. The drawers have been intelligently re-engineered to maximise usable space while preserving their original feel. Even the handles remain, restored, repositioned nowhere else, a small detail that makes a big statement about respect for what already worked.

A single traditional chrome tap and coordinating waste complete the piece. Clean, confident and understated, they sit comfortably alongside the aged timber and original ironwork, creating a calm dialogue between old and new.

The exterior is finished in a walnut stain and clear satin lacquer, not to disguise age, but to protect it.

Grain patterns, colour shifts and time-worn details remain visible, giving the piece a sense of authenticity that can’t be manufactured.

This is furniture with presence.

It suits interiors that favour substance over novelty and craftsmanship over polish. A piece chosen not to blend in, but to anchor a space , one that feels collected, lived-in and intentional.

Restored with care. Reimagined with purpose.Ready for its next chapter.
