Originally created as a place for daily ritual, this antique dressing table returns to that purpose in a new and considered way, now reimagined as a bathroom vanity, where function and beauty meet once again.
Crafted from striking tiger oak, the timber immediately sets this piece apart. Its bold, flowing grain and naturally developed patina give it a richness that feels layered and authentic. The surface hasn’t been overworked or overly refined; instead, it retains the subtle inconsistencies, tonal shifts and lived-in character that only time can produce. This is oak with presence, confident, tactile and shaped by years rather than manufacture.
Rather than impose a new identity, the adaptation has worked with the original form. The structure, proportions and detailing remain intact, allowing the piece to feel grounded in its origins while serving a completely practical role today. It’s a balance of sensitivity and purpose, where nothing feels forced or out of place.
The layout lends itself naturally to its new function. A generously sized drawer, carefully modified by our in-house carpentry team, now offers usable storage without compromising its outward appearance. Additional cupboard space provides room for everyday essentials, all neatly integrated within the original framework.
Above, a Misterio stone worktop introduces a refined counterpoint. Smooth and pale, with delicate veining running through its surface, it brings a sense of clarity and lightness. The basin, whether rectangular or softly oval, sits centrally, creating a composed, architectural feel. A chamfered edge adds a precise finishing touch, subtly defining the transition between stone and timber.
The original brass fittings have been restored rather than replaced, preserving small details that tie the piece back to its past. Their aged warmth complements the depth of the oak, adding cohesion without drawing focus.
Finished in a clear satin lacquer, the timber is protected while remaining completely honest in appearance. Every grain line, mark and variation is still visible, a surface that reflects its history rather than concealing it.
With over a century behind it, this is not something reproduced or repeated. Each piece stands on its own, shaped by time and available only once.
